THE Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards (PRACA) has officially called for nominations for its sixth edition, inviting artists and change-makers from across Bulawayo to take part in this annual celebration of creativity, talent and community impact.
The submission process started on Monday and ends on October 22, 2025.
This year’s PRACA awards promise to spotlight excellence across a wide range of artistic disciplines and recognise individuals or organisations making a significant difference in the Pumula community.
PRACA founder and executive director Happy Mpofu told NewsDay Life and Style that: “As PRACA officially opens nominations today (Monday), we are excited to announce the introduction of new categories such as Best Podcast Production/Talk Show, Best Podcaster/Presenter, Best Social Media Content Creator, Best Educational/Informative Content Creator, Most Influential Digital Personality and Outstanding Green Initiative/Job.
“These categories are a recognition of how digital media and innovation are shaping our communities — giving young people a platform to address critical issues like mental health, drug and substance abuse, climate change, and education improvement.”
Mpofu added that through these, they were not only celebrating creativity, but also empowering young people to own the digital and creative spaces, inspire positive change and create solutions that directly impact our society.
The awards will feature six categories: Music including outstanding performances, compositions and collaborations; Dance, recognising choreography and innovation; Theatre, celebrating acting, directing and stage design; Visual arts, covering painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media; Literature, including poetry, short stories and novels; and Community service, honouring local heroes and initiatives driving positive social change.
The initiative aims to not only uplift and promote creative talent, but also strengthen the spirit of community through recognition and celebration.
