Zambian model Njapau her country’s beauty potential

IN the heart of Lusaka, where elegance met purpose at the Radisson Hotel, Kutemba Njapau was crowned Miss Charm Zambia 2025, igniting a fresh wave of pride in her country’s beauty and potential.

More than a tiara and sash, her victory marks the rise of a new generation of queens graceful, intelligent and deeply committed to social change.

As she prepares to represent Zambia on the global stage in Vietnam this November, Njapau’s story is one of passion, authenticity and advocacy inviting the world to not only admire Zambian beauty but to believe in its power to transform lives.

Agape Mandizvidza, Miss Asia Pacific International Zimbabwe 2025, attended the Miss Charm Zambia 2025 beauty pageant, where she asked NewsDay Life & Style to engage Njapau in conversation.

Njapau views her Miss Charm title not merely as a personal triumph but as a profound responsibility.

Crowned in Lusaka on August 24, she describes the experience as humbling and empowering and an opportunity to represent her country with “grace, intelligence and authenticity”.

To her, the crown is a symbol of a journey that celebrates self-worth while inspiring others, particularly young girls, to believe in their limitless potential.

“Looking ahead, my plans are centred on advancing my education in business administration, growing my initiative and building international networks that connect Zambia to opportunities in fashion, education and entrepreneurship,” she said.

“Beyond pageantry, I see myself as a change-maker who is committed to giving, growing and transforming lives. My journey is not just about me, but about the people I represent and I am grateful for the support I continue to receive as I take each step forward with purpose and vision.”

Njapau passionately highlighted the burgeoning fashion industry in Zambia, describing it as a space teeming with creativity and originality.

According to her, Zambian designers, models and entrepreneurs are boldly merging African culture with global trends.

Despite challenges like limited resources and international exposure, she believes the sector is poised for global recognition.

As part of a dynamic new generation, she is proud to be among those pushing Zambian fashion to big international stages.

“The fashion industry in Zambia is one that continues to grow with immense creativity and originality,” she said.

“It is driven by talented designers, models and entrepreneurs who are showcasing African culture while also merging it with global trends.

“The industry is steadily gaining international recognition, though it still faces challenges such as limited resources and exposure.

“Nonetheless, it holds great promise and I am proud to be part of a generation that is pushing Zambian fashion to bigger stages.”

Beyond beauty, Njapau’s reign is rooted in purpose.

Through her Equipath Movement initiative, she has been championing education, youth empowerment and life skills training for young men and women.

Her new title amplifies her voice, enabling her to reach broader communities and influential stakeholders.

For Njapau, pageantry is not a stage for self-glorification, but a platform to drive real-world impact turning passion into measurable change.

Looking to the future, she envisions linking Zambia with global opportunities in fashion, education and entrepreneurship.

Her mission is deeply people-centred; she sees herself as a change-maker who walks with purpose, empowered by the unwavering support of those she represents.

The Miss Charm Zambia 2025 pageant did more than crown a queen, it spotlighted a spectrum of talent.

First princess Monde Moola, also Miss World Tourism Zambia, won K10 000 (US$420) and was named brand ambassador for Shodol Cosmetics and Cocoa.

Luse Hamusonde, the second runner-up, earned K5 000 (US$210) and a similar ambassadorship, while Chipo Chilinga took home the Universal Woman Zambia accolade along with K5 000 (US$210)courtesy of Iconic Modelling Management.

Together, these women reflect a growing movement across Africa, where pageantry is no longer just about beauty, but about voice, heritage and the power to inspire transformation.
