Rusape town council elects new chairperson

BY KENNETH NYANGANI   RUSAPE Town Council yesterday elected a new chairperson to replace Lython Sithole who was recalled by the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC T.

Blessing Pambureni (MDC T) defeated Peter Kwesha, the sitting vice chairman, to land the post.

“Yes l have won the elections. l got five votes while my counterpart got four votes and l am ready to work with anyone in the town and improve service delivery,” Pambureni told NewsDay  in an interview.

Residents Trust director Godfrey Mufuranhewe expressed confidence that Pambureni will deliver citing his local governance experience.

“As residents we are happy with the elevation of councillor Pambureni to be the new Town Chairman for Rusape,” he said

“We hope he will pursue the municipality status and embrace national programs like National Clean Up Campaign Awareness to promote cities and livelihoods of Rusape residents.”
