Addressing journalists in Harare yesterday, Masango said some of the passports were applied for over a decade ago.
He appealed to Zimbabweans living in South Africa, who applied for passports, to collect them from the Zimbabwean consulate in Johannesburg.
Masango said currently, there was a backlog of over 160 000 applications for passports dating back to May 2018.
