AMHVoices: Zim netizens respond to Finance minister’s cash plan

NewsDay online readers have responded on our Facebook page to our widely read post of the day, in which the newly appointed Finance and Economic Development minister, Mthuli Ncube says government expects to announce a plan to tackle the on-going currency crisis by month-end. Ncube said he expects to retire the quasi-bond note currency soon and introduce a local unit before the end of his five-year tenure.

  1. We want action Comrade Minister. We will only judge you then.

  2. Ramba Dhiya Ramba

so i see the this space is awash with prophets of doom, really wishing that the new minister fails. SHAME!

    1. Its not the wish….Zanu PF has failed miserably for the past 38 years. This is a fact.
Facts dont lie, fiction does…and the fact that Zanu PF has also cheated its way into power through 7 innocent lives only inspires naive people or those of very low or no standards. Each of the 38 past years has had its fair share of optimistic hoppers that expect success from a regiment which does absolutely nothing to deserve it.

    2. Its like expecting olympic medals now that Kirsty is Minister. Grow up man.

  3. given his past track record i think its fair to say its too early to present perceptions[which can be wrong] as facts, the minister faces a daunting task granted but lets not get too ahead of ourselves.

    1. Zikomo Kwambiri

Remember the very first banks to externalize funds was Barbican- an investment company owned by Mthuli Ncube .

  4. our cabinet is good stop criticising them after all God is our side whether you like it or not

    1. Why are you sure God is on your side?

  5. Its so sad we never speak life into our country!!

  6. our cabinet is good stop criticising them after all God is our side whether you like it or not

    1. How do you know that God is on “your” side? Maybe Satan is, 7 people were killed only last month by this “new” disturbance.

  7. Anonymous is correct that Chamisa’s God is in it. Truth Loving God.

    1. I am still waiting to see Chamisa surrendering his sister to give ED for a wife and also Chamisa resigning from MDC leadership after losing the 30 July 2018 watershed elections. As a man of the cloth he should do the honorable thing by stepping down humbly. Let him own up to his promises.

      1. He did not lose, don’t confuse stealing to winning…..look at the economy it tells you.

      2. Shift your focus to the govt of the day, which has “won” elections successively for the past 38 years only to deliver more poverty after each “win”. There is no evidence on the ground that success is on its way. There is nothing new about “technocrats” in govt, we even had a president with 7 or so degrees (including in violence) and a cabinet with more degrees than common sense but showed the voters that they knew absolutely nothing progressive about leadership, fairness, living within its means and governance. You are free to be hopeful but you’re not the first or last!

      3. i don’t think you are a zimbabwean neither a citizen of this era, you are a dead hero, to cut it short, stupidity is better than your undefined foolishness, even ZEC doesn’t listen to your foolish thoughts, urimbwa

  8. Let’s give the President and his ministers a chance ,watch them and criticise them. We have become so negative that we criticise people before they even start working. If they can’t who will
How very depressing. We were all crying for technocrats. There they are. I will start criticising after I have seen their plan after 100 days and then 5 year.

    1. No we were crying for a brand new party to rule this country, not this cheap sh1t

    2. In that, you have 100 Days to sorrowful Dreams and a Wasted 5 year plan entertaining any thoughts foreseeing Zanu PF ever delivering.

Fundamentals of success are built on best possible blueprint of Good Governance and Service Delivery,Human Rights, Anti-Corruption.

How Many have been arrested as the criminals surrounding the former President:
What significant percentage does their weight of accusations accounts for the $15 USD Billion Dollars.
You get Dr David Parirenyatwa arrested for employing a relative that’s insignificant to the levels of corruption that the country suffered and needs to be reversed, truly speaking those are the last sought out crimes having dealt with the major economical crimes. its no major cleansing when we have corrupt Billionaires and millionaires out there Scot free at the knees of the Country.
The Criminals are now running the Country.

In 5 Years we will be poorer unless you are another criminal kingpin within this Government.

The truth of the matter you cannot arrest one of your own, henceforth the conclusion would be you were stealing the USD Billions together and you can’t arrest your own peer otherwise some beans will be spilled.

    3. if you are being driven then you realise the driver is heading into a ditch will you keep quite?….their policies are continuously haunting peasants…..

  9. This Mthuli guy reminds me of Gideon Gono who was always full of energy and talk, always coming up with this and that fancy program everyday but in the end he did the worst damage of all. The same goes for the likes of Simba Makoni before him whose brilliance and effort all came to naught. As lon as it’s zanupf we’ll never get anywhere

  13. Minister of finance must be a principled person. Right now our biggest challenge is to end the deadly monster disease which is killing people in Glen view and other parts of the country. They must be proper procedures and laid out principles of how to manage finance. If at all we can have disaster fund that will carter for such kind of outbreaks and other disasters. At the moment our government has no such kind of thing that is the reason why they prioritise Grace Mugabe in Singapore hiring expensive aircraft for her to attend the already dead mother instead of channelling that money towards the Cholera outbreak. So this new minister must be a person who is going to be unpopular if he exercise such kind of discipline. We want a difference now. We do not want one family to enjoy while the rest of the people suffer.

  14. Many Zimbabweans have gone through education but education has not gone through them. This explains why we still find people who believe that Zanu Pf after 38 years of failure will spring up a surprise and bring success to the beloved country. All hogwash. ZANU PF is the devil incarnate. If anyone is hinging their livelihoods to a better economy under ZANU PF rule then you die poor. Its not going to happen. Mthuli Ncube’s promises are just similar to the excitement of a baby with new toys, mere building castles in the air. Very soon he will be telling us that it is unAfrican to talk while eating, after tasting the Zanu PF candy cake.

  15. Boss yemakwere-kwere

    Is there any difference between’bond

  16. Your Name (required):Special Black

Musangoshora, the current minister is one of the most qualified persons in the world, so he will deliver under the harsh economic melt down caused by you MDCA, who still call for sanctions. Maybe you hate him because you cant match him with your shadow minister. MDCA, pse, pse give this country a chance. You may lie and lie but people will open their eyes one day and leave you suffering from power dreams aftershocks. Ida umwewako sekuda kwaunozviita i bible iri. Asi imi munoti ngazvishate tigowana masimba.

  17. give Mtuli the chance please

  18. HOW CAN OUR DEAR MINISTER FUEL SPECULATION BY ANNOUNCING THAT HE WANTS TO REMOVE BOND NOTES….THATS A MISTAKE BECAUSE EVERY US DOLLAR IN THE MARKET WILL BE MOPPED BY SPECULATORS WHICH IN TURN WILL CAUSE PRICES TO GO UP.THIS IS THE SAME BOND THAT OUR PRESIDENT USED TO SAY GEJE GEJE NE USD

  19. For those who know that flies do not make honey you now know where we will be with ourrent situation in Zim.

The dynamics of the economy has sets itself aboard for everyone to see . The very people who were in a jovial mood during the announcements of the harmonised elections are now facing reality. You cant run a country like a tuck shop, surely you swear about 87 judges in one day , with the treasury dry as it is . I thot the finance minister would as per his word address critical issues affecting our country, by taking the borrowing bowel abroad, but alas, now that reality has surfaced and there is no financial support pouring in, the RBZ governer introduces a 2% tax levy on the poor population whose earnings are way far from the PDL .Adding salt to a wound, chinopora here chironda pakadai, kutowedzera kuti chinyenge. You can rig the election, but you cant rig the economy,,No investor would ever want to risk investing in an unstable economy like ours coz mangwana zvinofuma zvava zvimwe. Wecome back to 2008.
