A TOP Zanu PF official, who was last month evicted from premises in Mutare for allegedly failing to pay almost $10 000 in rentals, has reportedly agreed on a payment plan to clear the debt after reaching an out-of-court settlement with the property owner.

Zanu PF Manicaland provincial secretary for administration Kenneth Saruchera reportedly met RB Investments director, a Mr Rajah, on October 22 to discuss Kersarch Investments (Pvt) Ltd t/a Mutare Herbal’s alleged breach of contract.

Saruchera’s lawyers Mvere Chikamhi Mareanadzo Legal Practitioners wrote to the plaintiff’s lawyer David Tandiri of Tandiri Law Chambers that Kersarch Investments director Saruchera and Rajah had agreed that the outstanding debt was only $7 202 and not $9 908 as had earlier been indicated.

“We write to you at the instance of our client, Kersarch Investment. Kindly note our interest, we are instructed that our client director K Saruchera and your client’s director Mr Rajah had a meeting on October 22. At the meeting the parties agreed that the outstanding capital debt was $7 202,” read the letter.

“Our client proposes to offset the areas as follows: $3 000 upon signing of the out-of-court settlement by parties, $2 000 on or before November 2016, $1 202 on or before December 2016, $1 000 on or before January 2017. One KV Matondo has agreed to be guarantor of the debt.’’

The plaintiffs, through their lawyer, had claimed that Saruchera breached contractual terms and had gone for 10 months without paying rentals and rates.

The parties had entered into an agreement of lease for five years to rent premises situated at 27 Tembwe Street.
