Prosecutor Sheila Mhuru told magistrate Vakai Douglas Chikwekwe that there was need to check complainant Tonderai Nhunzvi’s health condition and see if he would be able to stand trial.

Mwanjali, who was released on $100 bail by the High Court, allegedly stabbed Nhunzvi in the abdomen during a scuffle in the parking lot at Long Chen Plaza last month.

The State alleges Mwanjali and Nhunzvi met at an intersection in the complex with their vehicles almost colliding as they exited a bar at Long Cheng Plaza in the early hours of April 10.

The State further alleges at that juncture, Mwanjali had an altercation with Nhunzvi, whom he is said to have stabbed twice after accusing him of bad driving.

It is the State’s case that Mwanjali came out of the car which was being driven by teammate Achford Gutu and had a verbal altercation with Nhunzvi before going back to the car where he took a knife and attacked the complainant.

After the incident, Nhunzvi was admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital where he was allegedly operated on. Mwanjali was arrested alongside Gutu, who was charged with malicious damage to property after he allegedly smashed the rear windscreen of Nhunzvi’s car.
