The National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo tomorrow hosts a two-man Poetry Slam contest dubbed Mlom’ Wakho Poetry Slam On Governance, featuring renowned poets Scribe the Healer born Tswarelo Mothobe and The Protest Poet, real name Bhekumusa Moyo.

The one-hour poetry show will see the poets speak on various aspects of themes derived from each poet’s subject matter through their poetry.

The show will cover topics such as versus Good Governance, White Privilege versus Tribal Privilege, corruption, black consciousness, socio-political and economic issues.

The event is the first of its kind to take place in the history of poetry in the country.

Mlom’Wakho Poetry slams vision assumes the leading role in freedom of expression through poetry development in Bulawayo, Matabeleland and Zimbabwe as a whole.

New Ambassador Hotel, Harare Multi award-winning Afro-fusion group Mokoomba tonight returns to the capital for a performance at New Ambassador Hotel after their highly successful North American tour, whose major highlight was a historic performance at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York.

The internationally acclaimed group will share the stage with local singer, songwriter and saxophonist Vee Mukarati. After the closure of Harare’s leading arts hub, Book Café, due to financial challenges, New Ambassador Hotel, which falls under the Rainbow Tourism Group has become the new home for artists’ performances cutting across drama, poetry, art and music operating under the name Pop–Up Book Café.

Anglican Cathedral Hall The Christian community will be in for a gospel fiesta tonight as more than 22 gospel musicians converge at Anglican Cathedral Hall in the capital for a free worship night concert headlined by the grand dad of the genre Baba Machanic Manyeruke supported by Reverend Chivaviro, Tatenda Mahachi, Noel Zembe and Trymore Bande among others.

The concert organised by Reverend Chivaviro is meant to unify gospel musicians, while at the same time saluting their fans for the support.

Ice & Fire Pamuzinda Sungura maestro Alick Macheso tonight lead Orchestra Mberikwazvo outfit, as they take their latest six-track 10th album Tsoka Dzerwendo to Ice & Fire Pamuzinda located in the neighbourhood of Kuwadzana Extension along Bulawayo road. Fans are guaranteed a superb show as the Madhawu hitmaker is currently riding on the crest of a wave that has seen him attracting a full house at all his recent live concerts.

Alliance Française The British Council Zimbabwe and Pamberi Trust have joined forces to showcase the best of Zimbabwean music and poetry in celebration of the late renowned author William Shakespeare’s work on the occasion of his 400th anniversary after his death tomorrow at Alliance Française in the capital under a global programme called Shakespeare Lives.

The free concert dubbed Shakespeare in Harare Celebrations is a reflection of the relevance of Shakespeare’s work in Zimbabwe and how he is viewed by various people in different parts of the country. The event is part of an unprecedented global programme of events and activities celebrating William Shakespeare as a global icon that will run throughout the year, exploring Shakespeare as a living writer who still speaks for all people and nations.

The event is set to be graced by both established and emerging spoken word artists and musicians among them Afro-jazz star Victor Kunonga, Albert Nyathi, Hope Masike, Chirikure Chirikure, Tehn Diamond, Cynthia ‘Flowchyld’ Marangwanda, Tendekai ‘Madzitatiguru’ Shangwa, RAE Lyric, Anthea the Poet and Biko Mutsaurwa.

Harare Club The winner of 2014 DStv Eutelsat Star awards essay Joseph Mahiya tomorrow launches his debut book titled Fresh Ink at Harare Club situated at corner Nelson Mandela Avenue and Third Street in the capital.

Kebab Centre The reunion of celebrated wheel spinners L-Roy and Dee Nosh after going solo for many years has brought new life at the re-branded outdoor entertainment joint, Kebab Centre in the capital.

This Sunday the duo will be joined on the turntables by DJ Storm, DJ T Fresh and DJ Killa Lelly, as they take turns to entertain patrons at the Red Hot Sunday gig at the joint.

City Sports Bar Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu backed by his Dendera Kings tonight entertain patrons at City Sports Bar in the capital supported by Potifa Mopo, the eldest son of legendary musician Mike of the Nherera Ndimambo fame, who took over his father’s Zinawa band.

Sulu will be sampling some of his new songs, off the forthcoming album as a way of marketing it.

Tomorrow he joins forces with sungura musician Peter Moyo for a performance at Tanza Centre in Chitungwiza.

Zebra Village, Mbare Jah Prayzah and the Third Generation Band on Sunday entertain merry-makers at Zebra Village in Mbare supported by Josphat Somanje and Somanje Stars.

Pariah State Avondale Pariah State Avondale tomorrow host Brian Chiyangwa’s All Black Everything Birthday Celebrations.

Guests will be entertained by veteran wheel spinners Dee Nice and Dee Nosh.

Alliance Française Three local artistes Masa and Eve Kawadza tonight combine forces to share the stage at a potentially explosive music concert dubbed The Beat Goes On Concert at Alliance Francaise situated at number 328 Herbert Chitepo, in the capital. The fans will be in for a treat at the concert as the trio have a record of mesmerising fans at their separate shows.

Zimbabwe-German Society Zimbabwe-German Society located at number 51 Lawson Avenue in Milton Park in the capital tomorrow host the inaugural Comexposed Comic Book Day featuring an array of local comic book artists and creators publishing work. Both local and international comic books and merchandise will be on sale at the event.

Maestro Restro Lounge & Bar Fallen Angels in collaboration with Zimbabwe Fashion International and Fashion Revolution on Sunday unveils their Winter 2016 collection at a runway show slated for Maestro Restro Lounge & Bar located at number 146B Enterprise road in the capital.

Red Rat Outdoor, Marondera Reggae crooner Mike Madamombe popularly known as Mic Inity tomorrow leads scores of both reggae and dancehall artists drawn from Marondera at an event dubbed Independence Bash at Red Rat Outdoor.

Mic Inity is expected to deliver an anti-drug message to the youths as well as other dancehall artists at the event.
