NEWLY-promoted Premiership side Mutare City Rovers expect to use Sakubva Stadium for their home matches soon even though the facility has been condemned by the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League management.

Mutare mayor Tatenda Nhamarare, who is the patron of the side, yesterday said they expect to have completed renovations to the stadium by the end of the week.
That development might come too late though for the club who host fellow newcomers Ngezi Platinum in their first match of the campaign on Saturday.
The club might be forced to seek an alternative venue for their first match after Sakubva was named among five stadia that need improvement before they can host top-flight football.
The other ones include Ascot, home to Chapungu, Luveve, home to some Bulawayo teams, Gwanzura in Harare and Dulibadzimu, home of Border Strikers.
In an interview with NewsDay Sport yesterday, Nhamarare said they were continuing with the renovations before assuring football fans in Mutare that they would be able to watch top-flight football.
“We do not have any alternative venue. We started our renovations in January and we are continuing with the renovations. We are doing some final touches and we are hoping that by the end of this week we will be home and dry,’’ he said.

This is not the first time that the stadium has been condemned with the same happening in the last two seasons.
Last season Buffaloes had to play their first home match against Triangle at Vengere Stadium in Rusape.
Rovers might be forced to do the same in their first match if the stadium is not passed as good enough by the PSL grounds committee.
