Log leaders, Hartley Academy were held to a goalless draw in Mutare on Saturday against the league’s whipping boys Mutare Polytechnic.

Hartley have 53 points from 26 matches, while Rovers are two points behind from the same number of matches.

Masvingo City are on third position with the same number of points as Rovers, but they have an inferior goal difference.

Masvingo United are on fourth position with 50 points from 26 matches.

They were held 2-2 by Gutu on Sunday. It was a bad weekend for Mutoko Traders, after they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Tenax at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare on Saturday.

They are still within the touching distance of the leading pack, with 48 points from 26 matches on sixth position on the table.

In the relegation battle, Black Eagles played a goalless draw against Ruwa Gunners in Chipinge.

Eagles occupy 16th position with 22 points from 26 matches, while Gunners are lying on 13th position with 25 points from the same number of matches.

Mutare Polytechnic is at the basement of the table with 19 points from 26 matches.

With eight matches remaining before the season comes to an end, all the top seven teams have a reasonable chance of winning the sole ticket to the topflight.

Some clubs have already started canvassing for all matches to kick off at the same time to avoid match fixing issues.
