According to Zanu PF insiders, a high-powered 300-member delegation is today expected to roll out a membership drive aimed at auditing and re-organisation of the structures in Harare province.

The huge delegation will embark on a month-long restructuring exercise aimed at creating new cells as well as taking stock of the current members.

“We resolved to take the delegation around Harare province and this will comprise of all provincial members, war veterans, war collaborators, ex-detainees and members of the National Consultative Assembly,” one of the sources said.

The exercise which is expected to run every weekend from today to May 3 2015 will be under the supervision of politburo member and Zanu PF secretary for finance, Obert Mpofu.

“We resolved in our provincial co-ordinating committee (PCC) meeting on Monday March 9 to roll out this exercise, verifying and auditing our structures from the cell level,” the source said. “Work is in progress on the restructuring process but we also want to verify whether what is being done is what the party wants.”

In an interview on Tuesday acting Zanu PF Harare chairperson Godwills Masimirembwa confirmed the provincial executive was ready for the restructuring exercise.

“The province is divided into six zones and we will co-ordinate the restructuring, formation of new cells as well as registration and welcoming new members into the party,” Masimirembwa said.

“Those people who still believe in the Gamatox can as well be relieved of their duties at those low levels such as being a cell leader of chairperson.”
