The conference will run over two days during the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Hifa) and will feature talks, panel discussions and presentations by some of the most innovative and successful minds in the music and tech sector on April 28 and 29.

Speakers included in the lineup will include M.anifest (Ghanaian Hip Hop phenomenon), Nic Burger (Kleek africa/Universal Records), Yoel Kenan (Africori), Phiona Okumu (Afripop Mag), Virgine Berger (Don’t Believe the Hype), Tehn Diamond (Zim Music Star), Emeline Wraith (Remote-Goat), Teju Ajani (YouTube SSA), Nkiru Balonwu (Spinlet CEO) and many others.

IMPACT Music Conference will also feature the hottest ideas in music that are being creatively innovated in the development of the sector on the continent. If you are a talented, creative entrepreneur using digital tools to innovate in the music sector, you are invited to submit your project for consideration.

“Selected ideas will have a chance to pitch to a community of peers, music and creative business experts. They will receive one-on-one feedback, input and an opportunity to network with some of best in the business [music executives, creative businesses and tech gurus],” said AMDP coordinator Charles Houdart.

He said interested candidates were free to apply on [email protected] and the selection criteria would include the ability to produce a new business idea which is not more than two years old, focused on music and able to demonstrate a positive impact for potential partners.

Houdart also said candidates were required to be creative, innovative, and scalable with growth potential and they also had to be Africa based.

The application deadline will be March 25 and winners will be notified by the period end of March/Early April.

“For those residing outside of Zimbabwe, travel and accommodation will be covered by AMDP,” said Houdart.

For over two days, the conference will present discussions on a wide variety of topics around music and tech, including content creation online, digital distribution, new revenue models in music, current and future state of the music industry and the role technology will play in shaping these, with attendance allowed only after registration.

The AMDP takes place in nine African countries with the support of numerous actors, institutions and professionals in the music sector. Its major initiative is to enhance the music sector through a series of targeted actions, of the top priority being to increase professional capacity and job opportunities in the African music industry.

AMDP is an initiative by the International Music Council, and is implemented with the financial contribution of the European Union and the assistance of the ACP Group of States.
