Trust God for your destiny

Opinion & Analysis
Marvellous and wonderful destinies are yawning out there to be fulfilled.

Marvellous and wonderful destinies are yawning out there to be fulfilled.

Sermon the Week with Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

Unimaginable dreams and visions are crying out to their takers for action. Promising projects, ventures and pursuits were abandoned after desired results took time to show up. Your hope for a better future is not a wild dream.

Maybe you have a prophecy upon your life which you believe will come to pass or you believe in the promises of God as contained in the Bible and something inside you tells you that it shall come to pass. I am here to tell you that if you trust God, it shall surely come to pass.

The line between success and mediocrity is very thin and the difference between success and failure is so small. Many of you have inner conviction that there are great things awaiting you. You have seen others rising to stardom. The difference is in standing the test of time.

The weight of your destiny may overwhelm you and you lose hope and crumble under the great calling upon your life. Sometimes when you are about to make history for your dynasty you give up at the finishing line when destiny is about to crown you. An extra inch will turn failure into success.

As long as you have a dream or idea from God, trust Him to accomplish it through you and for you. Never tire or give up. Focus on the promise while you walk in fellowship with Him throughout the way.

Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” The Amplified Bible says it this way, “Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.” Lean on God as He shows you how.

Trusting God entails confident expectation. You don’t waver but hang on through thick and thin; through high mountains, valleys, crooked roads and thorny pathways. Embarrassment, humiliation and ridicule should not be your stumbling block. Public opinion should not deny you your purpose.

The dictionary defines trust as firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength etc of a person or thing. You have to surrender to God’s way knowing that He is reliable, able, true and strong to accomplish His promise to you. According to the Scripture I quoted above, I ask you to commit everything to God, trusting Him for fulfilment.

I have seen that people find it easier to trust in God’s creation than trusting the Creator Himself. Some even find it easier to trust people than God. God says you invite a curse if your trust is in people. Jeremiah 17:5 reads, “Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from The Lord.”

Some of you eat in restaurants. You never ask for qualifications of the staff or certificate from department of health. You just trust you will be served good and harmless food. On the contrary when God asks you to do something, you bombard Him with questions such as why, how and when. Sometimes you even suggest better options for the all knowing God.

When you board a taxi, kombi or bus you never ask for the driver’s licence, medical papers and service report of the vehicle. You just trust you will get to your destination but when it comes to God you doubt His faithfulness to fulfil your destiny. What an irony! You don’t subject your airline to the scrutiny you subject God when He tells you that you will get to your destiny. God is more responsible and caring than your pilot, driver or any other service provider.

I encourage you to have the attitude of Jesus Christ who accepted to be hanged on the cross and die trusting that He who promised His resurrection is faithful.

A walk with God requires your commitment that whatever it takes you are ready for the fulfilment of that big dream. Your prayer should be like Jesus’ prayer in the garden of Gethsemane where He surrendered to the will of God. Pray for grace to go through what you are supposed to go through.

Don’t pray to block the path of God. You may feel that you don’t have what it takes but I want to assure you that your other partner, God, in this relationship has what it takes. Trust God for your destiny, you will get there. You are going somewhere.
