RONALD MOYO SPORTS REPORTER TWELVE schools from the country’s 10 provinces will tomorrow battle it out in the Hexagon Sports Management-sponsored National Association of Secondary Heads (Nash) Under-20 football tournament to be held at Prince Edward High School, Harare.

Three schools from the Southern Region, Mpopoma from Bulawayo, Matabeleland North’s Hlangabeza and Collen Bawn of Matabeleland South are confident that they will do well in the Under-20 boys’ tournament.

Pamushana of Masvingo are the defending champions.

Mpopoma coach Babson Ngwenya said: “This year we are organised compared to last year where we bowed out of the tournament at the group stages. The boys are playing well.

“We hope that one of our key player, captain Brighton Manhire, who was called up for the Under-20 Young Warriors camp last week for a trip to Angola, will be with us.”

Mpopoma won the provincial tournament after beating Milton without Manhire who had been called up for the postponed four nations invitational tournament in Angola.

Colleen Bawn, who will be gracing the tournament for the first time also promised fireworks.

Nqobizitha Nyoni, the Colleen Bawn coach, said the boys were prepared and will go into the tournament with aggression.

“This is our first time in the national tournament, but our target is to win it. There are traditional favourites such as Pamushana and Prince Edward, but we are prepared to face them,” Nyoni said.

Hlangabeza are also confident.

“The boys are prepared, come Saturday we will beat every opponent and bring glory to Matabeleland North,” team manager Overton Ndlovu said.
