BINDURA residents have taken their local authority to the High Court over continued disconnection of water supplies over unpaid bills.

REPORT BY OWN CORRESPONDENT

The Bindura Residents’ Association said the local authority had contravened a Bindura Magistrates’ Court order issued on November 16 2012 under case number C641/12, which compelled it to stop the water disconnections forthwith.

However, Bindura town clerk Shangwa Mavesera said his office had just received the summons and warned the association not to meddle in council administration affairs by inciting residents not to pay their dues.

“I have received the summons, but all the same that will not stop the running of the council. We need money to run the council, hence we look for alternative ways to raise the funds and water disconnections is one way which will make defaulters clear their bills,” he said.
