The tour, organised by the Matabeleland Rugby Football Board (MRFB), is part of the Hartsfield Rugby Grounds 75th year anniversary celebration with the major highlight being the rugby game between the Springbok Legends and the Zim Legends side on March 9.

The schools that are expected to participate in the coaching clinic which is pencilled for the morning of the legends’ match include Petra, Milton, Plumtree, Gifford, Falcon, Hamilton and Christian Brothers College.

MRFB is currently working to bridge the gap between school boy rugby and professional rugby in the province so as to retain the young talent after they have finished school.

MRFB vice-chairman, Sean Robinson yesterday told NewsDay Sport that all the Springbok legends who will be available for the match will participate in the coaching clinic.

“We are expecting roughly around 150 boys to come for the coaching clinic from the top senior rugby playing schools in the city. Junior schools are also expected to come for the coaching clinic with the Bok legends set to start at 9am at Hartsfield grounds,” Robinson said.

The training clinic will present the participating schools with a special opportunity as the ex-Springboks will be sharing tips and training skills with the upcoming players.

The Zimbabwe rugby legends side will be made up of over 40 former national team players who have already confirmed their availability, while 29 SA legends are anticipated to make the trip to the city of Kings and Queens.

Some of the ex-Springboks and former All Blacks who have confirmed their trip to Bulawayo to play the Zim Legends include Carlos Spencer, Gary Teichmann, Pieter Muller, Des Van Jaarsvelt, Jaco Van der Westhuizen, John Mametsa, Helo Mentz, Albert Van Den Berg and Peter Dixon.
