The Langton Giwa-coached side, who are the defending champions after beating South Africa in the last edition in Swaziland, qualified for the finals after defeating Namibia 2-0 in the semis.

Nyasha Munemo and Daisy Kaitano scored the two goals for the Young Mighty Warriors. Zambia beat South Africa 2-1 in the other semis to book their final berth.

The games were played in a single pool round-robin format and the team that finished top of the pool played the bottom side in the semi-final while the second met the third.

Zimbabwe finished the round robin on top after beating Namibia 2-0 in the first match, before beating Zambia 2-1.

The Aces Youth Soccer Academy duo of Tafadzwa Tsunguro and Kaitano scored in the first match while Munemo and Mighty Warriors star winger Mavis “Madam Chair” Chirandu were on target against Zambia.

With the Young Mighty Warriors assured of the top spot, Giwa sent in a second string side for the third match against South Africa and the move backfired as they were hammered 5-0.

The Sunday match will be the sixth time the two neighbours will be meeting this year with records hugely favouring Zimbabwe to clinch the title.

The 2-1 win at the current tournament aside, Zimbabwe has dominated their opponents at the senior level.

The two met in the African Women’s Championships first round qualifier where Zimbabwe lost the first leg 1-0 at Rufaro Stadium before overturning the scoreline with a 3-1 win in Lusaka.

They then played two friendly matches in October and the Mighty Warriors won the first match 3-1 in Hwange before crushing the “Shepolopolo Queens” 5-0 in the reverse fixture in Lusaka.
