Blue Ribbon have parted ways with coach Misheck Chidzambwa and his lieutenants Biggie Zuze and Labani Kandi, the club said yesterday.

The news comes a day after the team was handed a shock 6-0 defeat by a rather struggling Black Mambas, who only survived relegation after that surprise win.

Club chairman Moses Shumba yesterday confirmed: “We have agreed to part ways with Misheck Chidzambwa, his assistants Biggie Zuze and Labani Kandi. It was an amicable agreement between the club and the coaches.

When we started the season we agreed the team should finish in the top eight. That was the condition and it was not achieved.”

While Shumba was not at liberty to say much about the scoreline ahead of the club’s usual meeting today, there are suspicions surrounding the unusual scoreline as Blue Ribbon have not lost by more than four goals this season.

Shumba said his club has not found a replacement for the trio as yet. He said one of the players will act as a player-coach when the team play their last match of the season against Chicken Inn on Sunday.

“We are still looking for a right replacement. We are now building for next season, so that match on Sunday might come too soon for us to find a good coach. The players might have to organise themselves against Chicken Inn,” said Shumba.

Chidzambwa, who helped the team to Premier League promotion last season, was given a top-eight finish target for the season.

The former Warriors coach was given a car to use, which was going to be transferred to his name had he achieved that target. That feat looked attainable for the better part of the season as the team was seated pretty on the top half of the log.

However, a terrible slump in August saw the team gaining a paltry six points from a possible 18, to drift away from the top half.

Another loss of form in October saw the team losing to Caps United and Shooting Stars in succession before going down to Black Mambas last week, a loss that sealed the fate for Chidzambwa and crew.

The Tamba Wakaguta squad are currently occupying 10th position with 35 points and the best they can achieve is a ninth finish if they beat Chicken Inn.
