The annual Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Charity Race day takes place tomorrow at Borrowdale Racecourse with racing starting mid morning.

It will be an early start to what will be an entertaining afternoon.

Besides eight races, the ZRP will various displays including gymnastics.

The feature race of the day is the ZRP Charity Pinnancle Plate over 1 100m which will involve two top seven sprinters.

Among horses lining up for this race is last season’s champion, two-year-old Control Freak (Derreck David) from the Lisa Harris yard, last season champion sprinter Auvergne ( Deon Sampson) from the Noelene Peech yard, champion sprinter from 2010 Syracuse (Gareth Williams) also from the Lisa Harris yard and the speedy filly Wishful Eye (Corne Orffer) from the Alyson Wright stable.

Unbeaten so far in her career is talented Control Freak which has earned her not only the Champion two-year-old award, but also joint Horse of the Year. She has yet to race against horses older than her and this will be her biggest test so far.

It will be interesting to see just how good she is. Lisa Harris, the Champion Trainer for the last six years, knows what she is doing and it will be no surprise if Control Freak wins.

Auvergne the Champion Sprinter’s Award winner, makes his welcome return to racing this season. Though he is capable of winning, this race could well be a preparation run for the forthcoming HRIB Gold Cup Sprint — a race sponsored by one of the co-owners of Auvergne.

Eyes will also be on Wishful Eye. A convincing winner in her first start in Harare, Wishful Eye is well in at the weights and if there is anything that will beat her, it will be the 1 100m.

Eight races will be run at Borrowdale Park which means the Place Accumulator starts at 11:45am and the Pick Six starts at 12:20pm. It looks a very tricky card and it would be advisable to go as wide as one can afford.

Place Accumulator:Leg 1: 2,4 Leg 2: 1,5 Leg 3: 5 Leg 4: 3,5,8 Leg5: 4,10 Leg 6: 2,5 Leg 7: 4 cost $48-00 Pick Six: Leg 1: 1,2,5 Leg 2: 5 Leg 3: 3,5,7,8 Leg 4: 2,4,8,10 Leg 5: 1,2,3,5 Leg 6: 4, cost $192-00
