National football Under-20 assistant coach Mandla Mpofu has selected 12 players for the national Young Warriors trials that will take place in Harare next week.
The trials are being used to select a team for the Under-19 Cosafa Super Cup Tournament to be played in South Africa next month.
The players who were selected are defenders Edwin Nkomo and Elvis Moyo, midfielder Nqobizitha Masuku and striker Kelvin Moyo from Bantu Rovers.
Midfielders Thulani Gumede from Ajax Hotspurs and Amos Mahoso from Sparrows also made it into the team.
Nqobulwazi Moyo from McInn and Bantu Rovers’ Marvellous Nakamba were among the midfielders selected while defender Obedience Chikeda made the grade.
Striker Munyaradzi Muchenje and goalkeepers Bhekimpilo Ndlovu from Highlanders and Taimon Mvula from Hwange were also selected.
Zimbabwe will feature in the four-team tournament scheduled to run between April 20-25 in Cape Town and will also feature Angola, Namibia and Swaziland.
The trials for Bulawayo province were conducted at Raylton Sports Club grounds on Sunday. Under-20 manager Eddie Chivero said they are happy with the turnout although some of the players had to be sidelined due to lack of proper travelling documents.

“The turnout was very good but we had to drop some of the players as they do not have passports,” he said.
Chivero said the tournament is important as it will help in exposing the talents of the youngsters. “This is the platform for the youngsters to showcase their talent. Players like Denver Mukamba were identified from such tournaments,” he said.
