Former Highlanders and Warriors coach Madinda Ndlovu is in the running for the Coach of the Year award after clinching the be-Mobile league title with Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Botswana in May.
Centre Chiefs are home to another Zimbabwean Elvis Meleka, who is vying for the Supporters’ Player of the Year award while FC Platinum bound Joel Mogorosi is in the running for the Player of the Season award.
Township Rollers defender Oscar Ncenga and Centre Chief’s Kekaetswe Moloi are also chasing the Player of the Season award.
Reports from Botswana said Meleka, Mogorosi and Ncenga had also been nominated for the Supporters’ Player of the Year category and the three will have to contend with Moloi, Lemponye Tshireletso (BDF XI) and the Rollers trio of Kabelo Dambe, Ntesang Simanyana and Mogakolodi Ngele.
Ndlovu is up against Daniel Nare (BMC) and Nelson Setshwane (BDF XI), who have also been nominated for the Coach of the Year award.
The top goalscorer as well as the Players’ Player of the Year awards will be announced during the award ceremony.
Ndlovu’s Mochudi Centre Chiefs were knocked out of the Mascom Top Eight last Saturday after the Gaborone side played a one-all draw against Ecco City at Molepolole Sports Complex in Gaborone to bow out on the away goals’ rule. Earlier, the two teams played a goalless draw in Francistown.
The striking pair of Mogorosi and Moloi scored 26 goals each to clinch the league title with Ndlovu. However, Mochudi Centre Chiefs are still gunning for the Coca-Cola Cup.
