Nyaradzo Group representatives, under the theme “One Journey – Then, Now, Always,” expressed the company’s enduring solidarity from its inception into the future.

THE Nyaradzo Group drew over one thousand marathon runners as they celebrated 25 years of existence at SEAL Lifestyle Park in Harare over the weekend.

The road run is a testament to the growth of marathon racing in the country, with some participants travelling from as far as Kenya to take part in the event in a spirit of sportsmanship.

Nyaradzo Group representatives, under the theme “One Journey – Then, Now, Always,” expressed the company’s enduring solidarity from its inception into the future.

The road run also served as a qualifier for the Comrades Marathon scheduled for June in South Africa.

Professional marathoner Nicholas Marembo, who completed the 42km race, described the course as challenging yet rewarding.

“The course was challenging but fair, and the water points were perfectly spaced. Nyaradzo really stepped up for the local athletics community,” he told NewsDay Sport.

“The organisation today was world-class. As someone aiming for the Comrades Marathon, having a local qualifier of this calibre is a game-changer.”

Nyaradzo representatives said the event was more than a race; it was a celebration of the company’s “Service, Strength, and Solutions” over 25 years.

“We wanted to celebrate our 25-year milestone with the community that has walked this journey with us,” a Nyaradzo spokesperson said.

“Seeing thousands of people here, focusing on wellness and unity, is the perfect way to look toward the next 25 years.”

The event also highlighted inclusivity, with para-athletes competing in a dedicated kilometre race. Farai Mukarati, who completed the 42km wheelchair race, praised the organisers for including a category for wheelchair athletes.

“Inclusivity is often overlooked at big events, but seeing a dedicated category for wheelchair athletes today was heartening,” Mukarati said.

Tendai Gwatiringa of the Nyaradzo Group reiterated that the run symbolised more than competition, but a celebration of the company’s enduring values.

“We wanted to celebrate our 25-year milestone with the community that has walked this journey with us,” he said.
