NetOne has unveiled a US$50 000 sponsorship package for the second edition of the President’s Cup golf tournament

Telecommunications giant NetOne has unveiled a US$50 000 sponsorship package for the second edition of the President’s Cup golf tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to take place at Bulawayo Country Club from April 14 to 17.

The sponsorship was unveiled at a ceremony held at Police Golf Club in Harare on Monday morning.

Introduced last year as an amateur event, the President’s Cup—named in honour of Emmerson Mnangagwa—has this year been upgraded to a Pro-Am tournament.

Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts, Recreation and Culture Emily Jesaya was the guest of honour, while NetOne General Manager for Mobile Financial Services Joseph Machiva represented Group Chief Executive Officer Engineer Raphael Mushanawani.

Also in attendance were Akil Yusuf, president of the Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association (ZPGA), and Blessmore Gandawa, president of the Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA), along with officials from NetOne, the Ministry of Sport and the Sports and Recreation Commission.

Organisers said plans are underway to introduce a President’s Cup Junior Golf Tournament.
