Hardrock FC poised for PSL ticket, Sheasham hopeful

THE Central Region Soccer League has witnessed some unforgettable title races, with drama and heartbreak unfolding on the final day of the season, and 2025 could also be headed for a photo finish.

Topping the table with 76 points, Hardrock is just a hair’s breadth ahead of their arch-rivals Sheasham, who trail by a single point.

The journey to the top hasn’t been easy. Hardrock’s remarkable resilience and unwavering determination have been the driving force behind their success.

A few months ago, Hardrock FC were seven points behind Sheasham, seemingly out of contention for the top spot and ultimately the promotion ticket. But they turned the tables.

Their 1-0 win over Grain Tigers on Sunday kept them on course for a dance with the big boys.

Sheasham’s emphatic 6-0 thrashing of ZRP Gwanda has only intensified the pressure in the race.

Hardrock FC face a tough run-in against Gwanda Pirates, Chapungu FC, MSU FC, and Dulibadzimu United in their last four matches.

As the league hurtles towards its climax, all eyes are on Hardrock FC, who are poised to make history and be promoted after one season in Division One.

It’s also a neck-and-neck battle in the Northern Region Soccer League, as N’ombeyaora and Agama FC are separated by one point. N’ombeyaora have 77 points, while Agama have 76, with four games left to play.

Bulawayo Chiefs are poised to make a quick return to the PSL, leading the Southern Region Soccer League with 70 points, seven ahead of Hwange, who are second with 63 points.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Region Soccer League, FC Hunters have already secured promotion, with a game to spare, after beating Tenax on Sunday.

Hunters became the first team from Marondera to gain Premiership passage since independence in 1980.

They were confirmed as the 2025 Champions in the Eastern Region after a thrilling 2-1 win over rivals Tenax FC in a penultimate league encounter at Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera on Sunday.
