Sakunda boost DeMbare, Bosso

The previous deal lapsed last year, and the two clubs have been waiting on the company to offer them a new package.

TWO of the country's biggest football clubs Dynamos and Highlanders are set for a major boost with Sakunda Holdings entering a new sponsorship deal with the outfits.

The previous deal lapsed last year, and the two clubs have been waiting on the company to offer them a new package.

Sakunda will unveil the two clubs' kits for the 2024 season which is already five rounds of matches old.

Dynamos yesterday posted on their official X account suggesting that a new kit was loading.

The two clubs have been using their kit from last season and up until the last few days it had been unclear if Sakunda was returning to sponsor them.

Sakunda poured US$3 million into the two giants in 2021 with the deal expiring at the end of last year.

The money covered salaries for the players as well as the secretariat.

They were offered hefty bonuses if they managed to win the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, but both fell short over the period.

Had any of the clubs qualified for the Caf Champions League, they would have received a shot in the arm for the continental showcase.

Each club was awarded US$60 000 towards signing on fees.

This season, Dynamos went on a signing spree even though they were not sure the sponsorship from the energy giant would continue.

Highlanders, now under Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu, chose to lean more on promoting juniors but made a few pickings from other clubs.

Everything looks bright for Bosso once again after they shot to the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table with 13 points from five matches.

This weekend they travel to Baobab Stadium where they face champions Ngezi Platinum Stars, who have endured a difficult start to their title defence.

Dynamos make a trip to Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva where they face hosts Simba Bhora on Sunday.

DeMbare are likely to dress in one of their new kits, provided by their principal sponsor Sakunda.

They will also be looking for a fresh beginning after struggling in the first five matches where they have won just one match.

Meanwhile, Dynamos have appointed legal expert Clemence Chimbari as vice-chairperson of the club’s executive committee.

Chartered accountant Justice Mubayi has been appointed committee member responsible for development teams.

“Dynamos Football Club would like to wish Messrs Chimbari and Mubayi a successful tenure and it is our conviction that the two professionals will contribute to the growth of the brand of the club,” the club said in a statement.
