Dynamos capture Diamonds striker

Sport

Harare football giants Dynamos continued their shopping spree and yesterday announced the capture of striker Nyasha Chintuli from Manica Diamonds on a two-year contract.

The 26-year-old’s arrival comes barely 24 hours after the club also completed the signing of Eli Ilunga, Tanaka Shandirwa and the Moyo twins, Elvis and Kelvin.

Just last week, DeMbare added Arthur “Diego” Musiiwa and Tendai Matindife.

Sources yesterday said the club was working on five more deals that would see Donald Dzvinyai, Emmanuel Ziocha, Prince Milanzi, Keith Madera and last season’s Rookie of the Year award winner Jayden Barake joining before the end of this week.

The club’s new technical department, led by coach Herbert Maruwa made Chintuli, Ilunga and Barake their transfer priority to strengthen the strikeforce department which dismally came short last season.

Congolese marksman Ilunga scored 11 goals for Black Rhinos last year, while Chintuli and Barake scored nine each for Manica Diamonds and relegated WhaWha, respectively.

In contrast, the six strikers that featured for Dynamos last season managed to score a combined three goals.

All have since left DeMbare, with the exception of Tinashe Makanda.

Captain Patson Jaure headlines the list of 13 players who were purged in a clean-out exercise.

Other high-profile figures who were shown the exit door are former vice-captain Godknows Murwira, Keith Murera, Ralph Kawondera and the foreign trio of Sylvester Appiah, Albert Eonde and Alex Orotomal.

Evans Katema and Ghanaian Martin Ofori have been transfer-listed, while juniors Luke Musikiri, Claivert Tshuma and Stephen Chatikobo were also released.

Midfielder Trevor Mavhunga has also left the club after turning down an improved offer.
