CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League side Buffaloes are hopeful that Sakubva Stadium will be ready for Premiership use despite the delay by Mutare City Council to renovate it.

The stadium was condemned recently by Premier Soccer League (PSL) who wrote to the owners of the stadium, Mutare City Council, asking them to renovate the facility.

Issues that were raised in the letter are of the dilapidated toilets and changing rooms that need to be refurbished, the need to erect new goalposts made of aluminum, having an anti-doping room, attending to the bumpy turf and repairing of the security wall in some sections of the ground.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport yesterday Buffaloes spokesperson Tendai Chitowa said he was hopeful that they were going to use Sakubva Stadium this season despite acknowledging the delay by Mutare’s service providers.

“We have already spoken to Mutare City over the matter. l am made to believe that they are waiting for their budget. Definitely we are going to use the stadium this season, they are going to attend to most critical issues first and l think that by the start of the season they would have addressed most important things,” he said.

“Some of the critical things are the bumpy turf, having an anti-doping room, medical rooms, changing goal posts, among other issues. I think on other issues you can also conduct the Mutare City council over the matter, because sometimes we should not comment over their issues,” he said.

Mutare Mayor Tatenda Nhamarare said they were still making frantic efforts to renovate the stadium.

“We are still making frantic efforts to start the renovations and we have already sent our inspection team from Mutare City Council so that we know where to start from,” he said.

Sakubva Stadium for the past two seasons has been a cause for concern for most Premiership coaches who took turns to blast the facility over the bumpy pitch.
