Chivasa rose to fame in 2011 under the mentorship of Von Tavaziva of the Go Chanaiwa fame.

She later took on the role of a brave young woman in the NAMA-nominated drama, Simbimbindo, which was first screened on ZTV from 2013 to 2014 and later on DStv’s Mzanzi Magic.

VT Studios director Tavaziva described Chivasa’s death as “devastating”.

“I’m devastated. I discovered her talent in Mbare in 2011 and trained her for a short time, but what came out of her was excellent. You would think she went to a top film school,” he recalled.

He said she was “an actress full of potential” who also worked well with other production houses such as Slimaz Pro, where she was featured in their current production, Tunga.

Blessing Bafu — who worked with Chivasa in the production, Xpandables — said she contributed “very helpful ideas for the betterment of the production”.

Actress and make-up artist Rumbidzai Mapfumo — who was working with the deceased in the film project, Ndiko Kuda Kwenyu Here Mwari? — said the gap left by Chivasa will be very difficult to fill.

“She was doing well in all duties delegated to her where she was part of the crew and cast. I sadly missed her as a true warrior in the arts battle,” Mapfumo said.

At the time of her death, Chivasa was currently working on Simbimbindo Part 3, Tunga and Ndiko Kuda Kwenyu Here Mwari?

Chivasa, who leaves behind a son, also featured in the movie, The Purse, alongside Jah Prayzah.

Mourners are gathered at Number 28 Mushongandebvu Walk in Mbare, Harare.
