In a statement yesterday, PAZ said: “We encourage long-distance buses to insure their vehicles and ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy. They should also have the passenger manifest of which a copy should be left either with the bus owners or police, so that in case of a serious accident it will be easier to identify victims,” the statement read.
Zimbabwe Transport Organisation chairman and CAG Bus director Samson Nhanhanga also urged transport operators to exercise caution on the roads.
“We are urging drivers in the transport sector to exercise caution during the festive season,” he said. “We know that transport operators want to make a killing this festive season and might not rest drivers. Drivers should have enough time to rest to prevent road carnage.”
