A 43-year-old teacher at a primary school in Matabeleland South Province is in trouble after he allegedly tried to seduce a Grade 5 pupil.
The teacher, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the pupil, denied the charge when he appeared in court on Friday in the company of his lawyer from Mabikwa, Hikwa and Partners.
Filabusi magistrate Shillah Naziombe granted him $100 bail and remanded the matter to today.
Five State witnesses testified in the matter with two more expected to testify when trial resumes today. On June 30, the teacher allegedly invited the female pupil to a country club in Filabusi under the guise that he wanted to give her crayons.
The unsuspecting girl and her classmate accompanied the teacher to the country club.
Along the way, the teacher allegedly told the other girl to go home so that she could leave him with his alleged victim.
The teacher and the pupil proceeded to the country club and on arrival, he is alleged to have sat on the bench in a room while the girl was standing close to the door which was partly closed.
The teacher is alleged to have ordered the girl to remove her clothes so that they could be intimate. But the girl refused.
