A Mozambican vendor was arrested in Bindura, Zimbabwe for allegedly overstaying in the country while selling shoes.
Entro Manuel Chapulene (22) pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before magistrate Seluleko Mathuthu.
He was sentenced to one month in prison, which was wholly suspended on good behaviour.
He will remain in custody pending deportation.
Prosecutor Sheila Maribha told the court that on March 10, detectives who were on patrol in Bindura met Chapulene who was selling second-hand shoes.
They observed that he was speaking with a Mozambican accent and stopped him to establish his identity and immigration status.
The detectives asked him to produce valid documents, and he failed, leading to his arrest..
