A TOP government official has revealed that the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture has started scouting for a new acting headmaster for Makuzeze Primary School in Mangwe after the incumbent and her two subordinates left the school in a huff last Tuesday. Parents stormed the institution demanding the immediate transfer of headmistress Victoria Pasipanodya over alleged maladministration.
Matabeleland South provincial education director Tumisang Thabela told NewsDay yesterday her ministry would soon deploy another headmaster to the troubled school after Pasipanodya, her deputy Robson Gotosa, and her husband Munyaradzi Pasipanodya failed to report for duty since last week’s demonstrations.
About 90 parents stormed the school on the opening day and accused the trio of maladministration and victimising other staff members. The parents also alleged abuse of funds at the school, prompting the authorities to institute an audit into the school’s accounts.
“What I can say is that the current issues at the school are in the process of being resolved,” Thabela said.
“We are in the process of deploying an acting head who will hold the reins at the school in the meantime until we find someone suitable to fill up the position.”
Sources told NewsDay yesterday that the three teachers were escorted out of the school premises by Mangwe district education officer Headman Mpofu following their fall-out with the parents.
But Mpofu yesterday refuted the claim.
