URBAN grooves musician Jamal Nyika Mataure of the Kurwizi fame, who died in Mutare on Wednesday, is to be buried today at Dangamvura Cemetery.

In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, his mother Ruth Mataure confirmed the burial arrangements.
“Burial arrangements have been made. He will be buried at Dangamvura Cemetery tomorrow (today),” she said.
Jamal was HIV-positive and also battled motor neuron disease since last year.
Meanwhile, Mutare-based musicians have described the death of the Kurwizi hitmaker as a heavy loss to the music industry.
Brian Samaita of Murondatsimba Express blasted musicians for not doing enough to help ailing fellow artistes.
“It is a very sad loss. What is worrying for musicians is that most of them die paupers. That is not good,” Samaita said.

“As musicians, we should come together and help each other in difficult times than to only appear at the funeral to give speeches.
“During his sickness, his mother struggled to look after him, but very few came to her rescue. We should come together as one.”
Hosiah Chipanga described the death of Jamal as a heavy blow.
“It is a very big blow. We had thought that this young talent would take the music industry forward. It’s God’s decision, but it’s very painful,” Chipanga said.
Blessing Shumba said the death of Jamal was not only a loss to his family, but also to the music fraternity.
He said Jamal was very talented and it was very painful that such talent had gone so early.
Some fans in Mutare also expressed grief at the death of the the much acclaimed singer.
