According to the current CCAP Voice of Mbare chairperson William Mikaye, Chimoto is to feature on three songs on the new album that would be in Shona, English and Chichewa.
“We have invited him as our church member to feature on three songs which we are recording, that is, on Freedom, Nyasha and Ambuye Alinane. He is not coming here to perform, but will obviously attend prayers at Mbare CCAP on Wednesday, where he will have the chance to watch and listen to some of our local artistes,” Mikaye said.
Asked why they had chosen to feature Chimoto on their album, Mikaye said: “We are planning to go to Malawi next year for some gospel shows so we then thought bringing him here and featuring him on our album before our trip to Malawi would probably market us in advance before our tour.”
He added: “This year, we are most likely going to release two albums one of which will contain all our hit songs and entitled Flash-back. These songs are being produced locally by producer McDonald ‘Macdee” Chidavaenzi. The second album is yet to be titled, but most of the songs touch on faith.”
Mikaye, who is also the sponsor of the popular programme at a local radio station, Clash of the Choirs, and also working with popular gospel musicians such as Mathias Mhere, Sebastian Magacha, Machanic Manyeruke, Thembelani and Zim-Praise, said his group (CCAP Voice of Mbare) was planning to tour the region in order to market its music.
“We are planning to go to Malawi, South Africa and Zambia next year and hold some shows in order to market ourselves regionally. After touring the region, we will then focus on other places and that is what we have in our future plans.”
