CCC interim deputy spokesperson Gift Siziba said the go-ahead was a sign of better relations with the police and CCC expected the police to do their work professionally.

BY NUNURAI JENA THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Kariba has given the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) the greenlight to hold a “Thank you” rally in Kariba on Sunday.

In a letter dated August 15, 2022, the police warned CCC to abide by the contents of the application.

“You are required to hold the rally at Nyamhunga Stadium on the said dates and times . . . No procession is allowed either by foot or by vehicles” wrote the police.

CCC interim deputy spokesperson Gift Siziba said the go-ahead was a sign of better relations with the police and CCC expected the police to do their work professionally.

“Yes, we have been allowed to hold two rallies, one in Gokwe on Thursday and another in Kariba on Sunday. We expect the police to do their work professionally without interference from Zanu PF,” Siziba said

The rally comes in the wake of a CCC victory in ward 5 in last month’s by-election following the recall of the then sitting councillor by the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T.
