Cimas opens registration for Healthathon 3.0

Local News

Healthcare provider and medical aid society Cimas Health Group has opened registration for its third innovation challenge, Healthathon 3.0, inviting local technology innovators to develop practical solutions to Zimbabwe’s healthcare challenges.

Running under the theme “Reimagining Healthcare Through Disruptive Innovation,” the initiative targets innovation hubs, start-ups, university technology teams, software developers and product innovators across the country.

According to Cimas, the challenge seeks to address key healthcare gaps, including affordability, access to services, fragmented health data systems, preventive healthcare, service delivery and patient experience.

Participants are expected to develop Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that provide practical and scalable solutions to real-world healthcare delivery challenges.

To encourage innovation, Cimas has set aside a total prize pool of US$7,000 for the top three entries. The winning team will receive US$3,500, while the first and second runners-up will take home US$2,000 and US$1,500, respectively.

Applications close on July 12, 2026. Interested participants can submit their concepts through Cimas Health Group’s social media platforms or register via the organisation’s dedicated online portal.

The Healthathon initiative forms part of Cimas’ efforts to harness technology and innovation to improve healthcare outcomes and strengthen Zimbabwe’s health sector.
