EcoCash has launched the eighth edition of its ChakaChaya neEcoCash Promotion, offering more than US$400,000 in prizes including 10 brand new vehicles to customers across Zimbabwe.
The promotion officially kicked off on Thursday, 18 June 2026, with a roadshow parade through Harare that began in Arundel, passed through the Central Business District and ended in Mbare. First introduced in 2018, the annual campaign is now widely regarded as one of the country's biggest consumer promotions.
Among the prizes on offer this year are solar systems, smartphones, all-expenses-paid holidays to Victoria Falls, deep freezers, cash rewards and grocery vouchers, in addition to the cars that headline the prize pool.
Customers earn points by making transactions through their EcoCash USD or ZWG wallets, with every US$1 or equivalent in ZWG earning one point. Transactions such as diaspora remittances and payments made via the newly launched EcoCash Super App attract double points. Customers need a minimum of 30 points in a given week to qualify for weekly draws, while those who accumulate 500 points or more over the promotion period will automatically enter the grand prize draw.
To broaden the reach of the competition, EcoCash has spread prize draws across more than 30 locations nationwide, including Bulawayo, Masvingo, Gweru, Mutare, Chinhoyi, Chipinge and Mt Darwin. The draws will be overseen by independent auditors, with winners notified by SMS and announced on EcoCash's official platforms.
New customer registrations and downloads of the EcoCash Super App will also be rewarded with free airtime incentives.
In a statement, EcoCash said the promotion was designed to reward loyalty while driving the uptake of digital financial services. "Every day, millions of Zimbabweans use EcoCash to send money, buy airtime, pay bills, receive remittances and make merchant payments," the company said. "Through this promotion, EcoCash is saying 'Thank you' to its customers and rewarding them with opportunities to win prizes that can make a meaningful difference in their lives."
Since its launch eight years ago, the ChakaChaya promotion has distributed millions of dollars in prizes, ranging from vehicles and livestock to household appliances and holiday packages.
