The Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) has partnered Chipinge Town Council to maintain a clean and sustainable environment in the eastern border town.
The collaboration was cemented when ZCDC donated 60 refuse bins to the local authority, reinforcing their commitment to waste management and responsible disposal practices.
The move is part of broader efforts to improve public health and civic pride in Chipinge.
By providing the bins, ZCDC and council aim to tackle littering, strengthen waste management infrastructure, and encourage residents to take an active role in keeping the town clean.
The initiative reflects a growing trend among corporates in Zimbabwe to support local communities through sustainable practices that benefit people and the environment.

“As Chipinge Town Council, we are on a drive to encourage and maintain a clean and sustainable environment in our community. We engaged ZCDC for a partnership through donation of refuse bins and we are glad that the company responded to our call positively and gave us 60 public bins, which will help to promote cleanliness and pride in our community,” said Margaret Muyambo, council’s environmental health officer.
She urged residents to embrace the initiative by using the bins properly, noting that their placement across the town has already begun.

“We are committed to ensuring that the bins are utilised effectively, contributing to a cleaner and healthier community for all. Placement of the bins on the streets has begun and we encourage everyone to play a role in keeping Chipinge Town clean by utilising the bins.”
Tsungirirai Dhambuza, ZCDC’s public relations manager, said the partnership aligned with the company’s values and environmental stewardship goals.
“Caring for the environment is one of ZCDC’s values, and we are committed to sustainable environmental stewardship. This commitment drives us to continue forging partnerships such as the one we had with Chipinge Town Council,” she said.
Dhambuza added that the bins are “essential tools for keeping the town healthy, functional and pleasant to live in.”
ZCDC operates two mining operations in Chiadzwa and Chimanimani, both in Manicaland province. Chipinge Town lies 185km south-east of Mutare, near the Mt Selinda Border Post leading to Mozambique and boasts a thriving agricultural sector and tourist attractions, such as Chirinda Forest Botanical Gardens.
