A 32-YEAR-OLD man from Mazowe was brought before the Harare Magistrates Court yesterday facing allegations of murder.
Farai Shereni appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo and was remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
The State alleges that on November 28 last year at Kabanga compound, Lowdale Farm in Mazowe, the now deceased, who was not named in court, went to Munyaradzi Mafunga’s residence.
There, he met Mafunga’s wife, who was sleeping in the bedroom, and asked her for water.
According to court papers, the man asked for more water and was told there was none left.
He then entered the kitchen where he found Mafunga sleeping.
A misunderstanding over an unexplained matter rose, leading Mafunga to assault the man with a stick on the back repeatedly until the stick broke to four pieces.
It is alleged that one Diamond Timothy then arrived at the scene and, together with Oliver Rusike, joined in assaulting the deceased, hitting him on the back several times with a fan belt.
