THE Anglican Diocese of Manicaland has approached the government seeking land to build schools in the province.
The Anglican diocesan schools in Manicaland province including St Faith Mission and St David’s Bonda Girls have dominated school rankings in the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) and Cambridge Advanced and Ordinary level examinations.
The diocese owns 54 schools in the province.
The schools are known for high pass rates, strong focus on holistic education and commitment to academic excellence and student well-being.
The diocese has invested significantly in infrastructure development, including new school buses to cater for educational tours and reduce travel costs for students.
It focuses on providing a comprehensive learning experience that includes strong Christian values, sports activities, cultural activities and leadership development.
In an interview with NewsDay, Bishop Eric Ruwona said the diocese faced increasing demand for its schools, with plans to build more boarding schools to accommodate the high enrolment numbers.
“We have since approached government to give us more land to build more schools because we have pressure when we are enrolling every year,” he said.

Ruwona also told NewsDay that the diocesan schools are geared for the 2025 examinations set for the next few weeks.
“As usual, our schoolteachers are busy and students are excited ahead of end of year exams. Exams are coming and we have the Ordinary and Advanced level examinations coming and I am very excited with the preparations,” he said.
“We are in the final lap when we speak in athletics language. We have great staff in our schools and I just believe that everyone is ready ahead of the examinations, including lower grades, which is our greatest foundation.”
The diocese has been applauded for its commitment to providing quality education.
