Norton man up for murder

Local News

A 29-YEAR-OLD man has appeared before High Court judge Justice Regis Dembure facing a charge murder which occurred in Norton.

Pardon Jena, who was being represented by Panashe Mujawo of Mudimu Law Chambers, was granted US$100 bail.

Justice Dembure ordered Jena to reside at his given address and not to interfere with State witnesses.

Circumstances are that on August 25 this year, Jena left Seaways Bar together with Patrice Chipoumire heading home. And on the way a misunderstanding arose between the two over an unknown issue near a garage in the town.

Jena allegedly stabbed Chipoumire once on the neck and he fell to the ground.

The court heard that Jena allegedly severed Chipoumire’s private parts and left cheek before disappearing.

Chipoumire’s body was found at the scene with a deep cut on the neck and without the left cheek and private parts by passersby who then informed the police.

A follow-up was made, leading to Jena’s arrest on the same day in Katanga.

The State further alleged that it has evidence that Jena was seen leaving the bar together with the now deceased before his death.
