A MOUNT Pleasant woman has been arraigned before Harare magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure facing charges of attempted infanticide.

Melissa Matafi (21) was yesterday remanded out of custody to May 9 to allow for completion of investigations.  The State is still waiting for medical records from Parirenyatwa Hospital.

The complainant in the matter is the State, while the informant in this case is Hildaberta Rwambiwa, who was the accused’s employer.

Allegations are that on February 9 last month, the informant was advised by security guard Last Mafuwa that she had seen blood stains on the pavement.

A live newly born baby was found buried in the garden. Rwambiwa took the baby to the hospital while the matter was reported to the police.
