MULTIMEDIA production house, Kay Media Africa will tomorrow launch its first home-grown musical animated series featuring local animators and digital artists.
The musical series, Ephemeral Tales: The Tale of Stavo is centred on a story that looks into issues that affect youths.
In a statement, Kay Media Africa spokesperson Keith Kuhudzai said the production was a buoyant and nail-biting four-part animated musical series.
Episodes will be released on a weekly basis on the Comexposed YouTube channel.
“The series creatively combines animation and music. It is inspired by Zimbabwean urban culture, to tell a thought-provoking story that dives headfirst into social themes,” he said, adding that the series explored issues affecting young people in ways that most have shied away from.
“The production team comprises Tavonga Shumbanhete and Chanelle Katsidzira, collaborating with local Afrofusion singer-songwriter Masa Caroleen and rapper Prophecy.”
Kuhudzai said the music series was composed by music producers Tinashe “Texas” Matekwe and Innocent “Mr Flow” Masamba.
“The project began in February this year with the team selected after a series of advanced animation and digital story-telling workshops,” he noted.
“The team has been working under my guidance and renowned multimedia designer Eugene Mapondera. We are looking forward to entertaining audiences with a unique, authentic story that can resonate with Zimbabweans and Africa at large.”
The team utilised African ideas, skills and identity to produce audio-visual content that engages, resonates with and inspires targeted audiences.
