ZPC Kariba have managed to pick up just ten points from 13 matches and the defeat to Manica Diamonds on Sunday was the final stroke that broke the camel's back.

BY NUNURAI JENA CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League side ZPC Kariba have fired coach Godfrey Tamirepi after a string of poor results.

The club has in the interim appointed goalkeepers coach Chenjerai Dube who was Tamirepi’s assistant as the caretaker coach.

ZPC Kariba have managed to pick up just ten points from 13 matches and the defeat to Manica Diamonds on Sunday was the final stroke that broke the camel’s back.

They currently sit above WhaWha and Bulawayo City on the league table having scored the least number of goals in the campaign so far with just seven strikes.

Tamirepi refused to comment on the issue referring questions to team manager Cosmas Zindoga who also refused to comment as per company policy.

ZPC spokesperson Faith Chisveto told NewsDay Sport that she was preparing a statement but had not done so by the time of going to print.

Tamirepi becomes the third coach to be fired in the topflight league so far after Ngezi Platinum Stars parted ways with Rodwell Dhlakama who was replaced by former Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari while Bulawayo City dismissed Philani Ncube on Monday.

Dube’s first assignment is against fellow strugglers WhaWha at Nyamhunga Stadium in Kariba on Saturday. They will be looking to start picking up points with their place in the elite league under threat.
