BARELY two weeks after South African music duo, Major League performed at Borrowdale Racecourse, Afro-pop duo, Blaq Diamond from the same country are billed to perform in the capital this Friday.
Award-winning promotions company 2Kings Entertainment and Royal Djs are behind the concert dubbed One Night Only set for Pabloz VIP Lounge at Sam Levy Village in Harare.
Made up of Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa, Blaq Diamond makes a return to Zimbabwe after its successful show last year in Bulawayo.
In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style yesterday, the concert spokesperson Dee Nosh said they were bringing the Mzansi stars in response to music fanatics’ request.
“After their successful show in Bulawayo there have been calls to bring Blaq Diamond to Harare. As we are here for the music people, we engaged them (Blaq Diamond) and they agreed to come back to Zimbabwe for this Harare performance,” Dee Nosh said.
He said the KwaZulu-Natal natives would touch down at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Friday afternoon.
“The boys are happy to be coming and have promised fireworks at the concert. Ordinary tickets for the concert are selling at US$20 while for the VIP people have to book a table through Pabloz,” he said.
“Taking into cognisance that COVID-19 is still in our midst, all COVID-19 protocols will be observed at the show.”
Dee Nosh said their dream was to give people great shows and bring more international artistes in the country.
“It’s not easy to host these shows. It is quite expensive and at times you suffer losses, but we have made a commitment to venture into showbiz and we strive to give people flawless shows of international standards,” he said.
At the concert, Blaq Diamond will be supported by local wheel spinners Dj Juice, Dj Am and Dj Selekta Base.
A background check for Blaq Diamond shows that the duo met back in 2010 in KwaZulu-Natal during a school trip in high school.
Doing a rap battle on the school bus, they realised each other’s talents and skills, from there they decided to link up and create a group.
They released their debut album Inqola, which became their first iTunes number one.
They went on to win big and also made history at the 27th edition of South African Music Awards as they won the Artist of the Year award.
For winning the award, they became the first duo to scoop the award, after they got the largest number of votes in a category voted for by the public. Blaq Diamond is known for hits such as Ibhanyoi, Woza My Love and Love Letter.
