by PRIVELEDGE GUMBODETE PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday appointed Nelson Mutsonziwa acting Prosecutor-General (PG) following the resignation of Kumbirai Hodzi.

Hodzi resigned last week on “health grounds” amid reports that he had been pushed out over alleged corruption and incompetence.

Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda confirmed Mutsonziwa’s appointment in a statement yesterday.

“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has, in terms of section 340 of the Constitution, appointed Nelson Mutsonziwa as acting Prosecutor-General following the resignation of former Prosecutor-General, Kumbirai Hodzi. The appointment is with immediate effect,” the statement read.

Hodzi was appointed PG in 2018 following the resignation of RayGoba.
