Chihota’s appointment follows ZimRe Holdings Limited (ZHL)’s acquisition of a controlling stake in Fidelity.

BY BUSINESS WRITER IMMEDIATE past chairman of the Zimbabwe Association of Pension Funds Reginald Chihota has been appointed managing director at Fidelity Life Assurance.

The appointment is effective March 1, 2022.

Chihota’s appointment follows ZimRe Holdings Limited (ZHL)’s acquisition of a controlling stake in Fidelity.

In an internal memo, ZimRe chief executive officer, Stanley Kudenga said Chihota, who has a strong background in the life, pensions and medical aid business, had experience working in several African markets.

”It gives me great pleasure to advise EXCO (executive management committee) members, and all ZHL group staff that Reginald Chihota has been appointed substantive managing director of Fidelity Life Assurance of Zimbabwe, with effect from March 1, 2022,” Kudenga said.

“Over the years, Reginald has led numerous initiatives within the region and beyond, having been assigned to countries such as Angola, Mozambique, Zambia and South Sudan.

“Reginald has also held various roles within Fidelity Life Assurance and his most recent role before this appointment was that of general manager: Employee benefits, retail and funeral services, a position he has held since April 2014.

“Over the years, Chihota has been assigned to countries such as Angola, Mozambique; Zambia (and) has led numerous initiatives within the region and beyond,” Kudenga said. “He is a holder of a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Gloucestershire [UK] as well as other numerous certifications in marketing and insurance,” Kudenga said.
