Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Moyo said the album, which was his sixth production, was a poetic collection.

BY SHARON SIBINDI VICTORY Siyanqoba director and award-winning poet, Desire “Moyoxide” Moyo says his latest 17-track album titled The Testimony of Moyoxide: Let Me Play with Fire calls for justice, love and true leadership.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Moyo said the album, which was his sixth production, was a poetic collection.

“The album The Testimony of Moyoxide: Let Me Play with Fire is a call for fairness, peace, justice and true leadership,” he said.

“The album is a fusion of music and poetry. Musical soundtracks are works from Vusa Mkhaya, Indosakusa, Collen Moyo and the Firm Foundation, MaDewa and Insindiso YamaNazaretha, Ithokazi leJongosi, Madlela Skhobokhobo and Victory Siyanqoba.”

Moyo said he was inspired by real life events around him.

“Inspiration is propelled by the political, religious and economic events. I believe our people perish, not because of lack of information, but for lack of actioning the information and acting on it,” he said.

“The title of the album is inspired by my character and personal vision and dreams. I so much believe in speaking truth to power.

“Again, I embrace diversity and the fact that our appreciation of the status quo is so diverse. Hence, the album is my own story and thoughts shared with the world.”

Through his music, Moyo said he was targeting conscious individuals in his community with potential to bring about an equal society, citizens with a strong heart to speak and defend the spirit and acts of goodwill.
