BY TAFADZWA KACHIKO TWELVE-YEAR-OLD Desmond Mutero from Chitungwiza was allegedly whipped to death by his uncle and mother for joining a Nyau dance group, popularly known as “zvigure”.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza told NewsDay Weekender that Yeukai had been arrested for the alleged murder while Ocean was at large.
“Police in Harare are looking for Ocean, who is still at large, in connection with the murder of his nephew. Yeukai was arrested and is detained at ZRP Zengeza. We are appealing to anyone who might have information on his whereabouts to report at any nearest police station,” he said.
“It is very unfortunate that the suspects used force as a measure to discipline the now-deceased, which reportedly led to his death. Parents or guardians should always avoid violent ways to instil discipline in their children.”
