Teen in court for minor’s rape

A HARARE teenager appeared in court yesterday charged with raping a 10-year-old minor.

Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda remanded the 17-year-old suspect in custody to January 24.

The court heard that on an unknown date this month, the minor was sent by her mother to look for her brother.

It is alleged that the minor met the accused person, who was a friend to his brother, along the way. The accused told the minor that her brother was at his house.

Upon entering the dining room, the accused grabbed the minor and raped her, the court heard.

The matter came to light on Tuesday when the minor was sent on a similar mission in the company of her elder sister.

The narrated the sexual assault to her sister, leading to accused’s arrest.
